| One of the finest fighters of WWII, this classic fighter possesed a great rate of climb, straight line speed and was highly maneurverable. Capable of matching the P-51, the 'Veltro' as the aircraft was christened, was heavily armed with two 12.7mm MGs and two wing mounted 20mm canons. This is my 1/48 Hasegawa Macchi C.205V. The model depicts the R.A. Macchi C.205V Serie III "very probably" flown by Luigi Gorrini of the 85a Squadriglia, 18o Gruppo, 3o Stormo based at Cerveteri during August 1943. Gorrini claimed 7 victories on C.205V during this month. Sergente Maggiore Luigi Gorrini was seriously wounded in action on 15 June 1944 and didn't fly again during WW2. He was credited with a total of 15 victories + 8 damaged flying with R. A. and 4 victories + 1 damaged with the ANR. The model is painted in the D3 camouflage scheme using Humbrol, Mister Kit & Gunze paints. The interior cockpit Verde Anticorrosione is Humbrol 78+34, Grigio Azzurro Chiaro 1 Humbrol 141, Verde Oliva Scuro 2 is Humbrol 30+116 and Nocciola Chiaro 4 Mister Kit AC11 + Gunze H310. Sky Models decal sheet was used to complete the kit (48-015 Macchi MC 202 for the "2" + 48-021 Macchi C.200 for the "85"). |
