Re: A Fiat AS.6 roars to life!

Its great the way they keep the memory of these men and machines going. Even just an engine startup draws a crowd. History is important to them as it should be, it paves the way forward.

VIDEO: A Fiat AS.6 roars to life!

Below a new video of the Fiat AS.6 restored to working condition. This is the powerplant that powered the MC.72 that set a speed record for piston-powered seaplanes that still stands today. This engine developed a maximum of 2,800 horsepower. On 23 October 1934 Francesco Agello piloted the M.C. 72 a...

Re: Aeronautica Macchi C.205 Bifusoliera Art Rendering

I'll add them to a "What-if" section of the Gallery. I like the Bifusoliera and North American P-82B. The web and its earlier iterations has transformed allot even in the last 10yrs. I was thinking of re-writing this website but there's no format that allows the flexibility of what's presented on St...

Re: Aeronautica Macchi C.205 Bifusoliera Art Rendering

These are well known drawings of these planes that I didn't know belonged to you but I suspected were yours after you posted here. Lets get all these into the Gallery and give credit where credit is due. Yes Coreldraw and Illustrator are very expensive!

Very cool. Is this your drawing? Towards the end the RA did begin to buy into the heavy fighter concept.

Re: Salve tutti! and of course a Macchi 202 question

Richard, for years Beretta WWII SMGs were considered inadequate, even inferior because of their cyclic rate of fire, today they're considered the best SMGs of WWII - the Germans knew that 80yrs ago. And now they're looking at the Carcano too. A slower rate of fire is better for accuracy. SAFATs were...

Re: Italeris 1/32 Macchi 202 smoke ring decals - a test

Thanks for doing this. Clearly the decals are a tiny bit transparent, although the drawing of the smoke ring is accurate, I think they used some of my drawings (it wouldn't be the first time) :esmile: I agree the color matching of the smoke ring is pretty good, close to VOS2. Mr Color C310 Brown FS3...

Re: Salve tutti! and of course a Macchi 202 question

Most historians get caught up in the numbers game, for example when a Hurricane is compared to the C.202 they usually bring-up the 8 x 0.303 in (7.7 mm) Brownings versus the 2 x 12.7mm (0.5in caliber) SAFATs. However the eight guns on the Hurricane (and later the Spitfire) weren’t what they seemed, ...

Re: Salve tutti! and of course a Macchi 202 question

Pilots didn't ask for heavier guns until US B-17/B.24s appeared - the B-24s were especially hard to shot down. It wasn't that the C.202 couldn't take down a B.24, it could, it was the heavy escorts that were the problem and it usually took two or three passes to take down a B-24, what was needed was...

Re: Re 2005 width of fuselage band

The width of the white fuselage band was 600mm or 18.5mm (1.85 cm) in 1/32 and 12.5mm (1.25cm) in 1/48.

Re: Retired In Kalifornia's 1960s Italian Aircraft Subject Scale Model Kit Build Retrospectives

I'll turn your Frog/Airlines post into a product review since the kits are actively sold on ebay and I'm sure someone has googled the kits for a review.
