This is just an update. Every article in the Gallery has either been restored, updated or reformatted. Updated articles are indicated with a tag in the Gallery (mostly Feature articles). The entire Gallery has been reworked, there were broken images, pages that no longer worked or displayed well, system (MS) and browser (Chrome) related issues that all needed attention - and as always we have (mostly) Microsoft and Google to thank for their endless changes that inevitably break not just this site but others too.
Some original articles circa 2005-2009 were restored instead of updating them, as examples of how the Gallery once looked although all these articles have now been completely rewritten (underneath) and are thinner, require less resources (i.e. memory) and are almost half the size of the old ones - not that Stormo was ever resource intensive to begin with.
Articles that have been reformatted are consistent with our web standards, are compact (less memory intensive), load quicker and are easier to read.
Every article now uses the original photos that were submitted to Stormo. Back in the day we were limited by server space but this is no longer an issue.
Old/Original articles (2005-2009) that have been Restored look like this one (Chris’ Ba.65):
Warrior Model 1/48 Ba.65 A80 by Chris Busbridge
There’s a certain charm or elegance/simplicity about the old articles that I like compared to what's considered new these days.
Old articles (2005-2009) that have been Updated look like Davide’s Ro.37:
Classic Airframes 1/48 IMAM Ro.37 A30 by Davide Splendore
Most articles just needed cosmetic updates, others needed to be re-formatted.
I also de-Googled non-performing ads as much as possible for those that have commented about ads (yes we do listen to our community - mostly), however please note ads help to support this site so they will not disappear entirely - sorry. Vignettes are also not going away, they are Google's future so get used to it (again not just on this site) - as annoying as they may be.
All this work has brought many articles that were long-in-the-tooth back-to-life and is part of our commitment to quality.
Anyway the Gallery is back "up-to-snuff", enjoy it, it's one of the best in the business and certainly best in subject/class.
