CANT Z-506
CANT Z-506
Hello folks, I do not come often here, but this time I am in a lucky strike as I received an Alpha-flight CANT Z 506, which is a very rare model. My only question is to make sure I will do no mistake with the interior color. I think Griggio Azurro chiaro is right and no Verde anti corrosione as we deal with a mainly wooden plane. I will be happy to read your opinion. best regards from France.
Re: CANT Z-506
Hi D520!!
My modest opinion is that the Grigio Azzurro Chiaro is the most probably color used for interior surfaces. It was applied on wooden and fabric surfaces.
But the Verde Anticorrosione (wich V. A. ??) was applied on metal frames and then covered by G.A.C.
For references on this site you can take a look to:

Re: CANT Z-506
Grazie mille. I am an old hand on that site. GAC is probably my choice. Baci.
Re: CANT Z-506
My second question is concerning the armement. The first Series of Z-506 were equipped with a Breda turret so they received a Breda Safat 12,7mm, but the latter Series had a caproni Lancini turret, like the CANT Z-1007. These turrets had a Scotti 12,7mm, so what about the Z-506? TIA for your answers.
Re: CANT Z-506
Gino: the Caproni-Lanciani Delta "Type E" turrets could accept the following guns:
1) Scotti-I.F. 7.7mm
2) Scotti-I.F. 12.7mm (0.5 caliber)
3) SAFAT-Breda 7.7mm
Starting from Z.506B Serie XII, the Caproni-Lanciani Delta "Type E" turrets were armed with 12.7mm Scotti-I.F. guns. If you look at the last three drawings below the Scotti 7.7mm and 12.7mm guns are flipped (look at the size and length of the barrels), and also Scotti guns lacked barrel shrouds.

Re: CANT Z-506
Thanks a lot Vince, you confirm my thoughts, and my "Airone" will be Scotti equipped as it is a late version. Bruno do not worry there is no trouble at all. Grazie mille e ciao tutti.
Re: CANT Z-506
Here's a list of MM and corresponding Serie, unfortunately Serie XII is missing. I think you can say the Serie manufactured in 1942 and after had the 12.7mm guns installed. As you know, L'Arsenal made a resin 1/72 12.7mm Scotti MG.
Re: CANT Z-506
It should be a 1/48 vacuformed kit, isn't?
Not an easy building.....
Waiting for pictures!!!
A bientot!

Re: CANT Z-506
No. It is the rather rare Alpha-flight. Best regards.
Re: CANT Z-506
Hello to all Stormo friends. I need help!
As you can read on this post I am currently working on an Alpha flight CANT Z-506. As it happens there are no wing fasces on the kit decal sheet no Savoia cross either! If someone has this kit and can tell me the dimensions of the fasces I can do them with the Silhouette, but I badly need those dimensions as the plan in Alid'Italia has no scale. I will really appreciate an answer. best regards and TIA.

Re: CANT Z-506
From foglio d'ordini 9.7.1936 - disegno ufficale del fascio alare grande (bombers) 1800mm, this is confirmed from drawings and photos. The other thing to consider is the style of fasce, the axe handle for instance on these planes (notwithstanding from which factory the plane was manufactured) was not separate, or its not clear from photos - see Intergest Colori e Insegne - Insegne Alari Standard 9. Use the fasci from your 1/48 CANT Z.1007s as an example. Early war Z.506B with white background fasci.
Re: CANT Z-506
Grazie mille Vince. I have this book so I will check. Nevertheless this model is awful built, twisted parts, bubbles by thousand, fit is capricious. So for the moment, it is a stand by. Many thanks for your help, take care.
