1/48 Scale Hobby G.55 questions

Post by RedHornet922 » Sat Feb 27, 2010 8:28 am

Hello everyone.

I'd like to build an ANR G.55, but I'm not sure which of the scale hobby 1/48 kits to use.

Should I be using the G.55A kit with sky models decals to make the correct version, or should it be the Sottoserie 0 kit?

I'm looking to make one that would have been camouflaged similar to the German aircraft in mid to late 1944.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Scott

ANR flew both versions, Sottoserie 0 & Sottoserie 1.
It is more secure is to use Sottoserie 1 simply because of decal availability. Be aware that tail can be early or late on them. Don’t hold your breath with Sky - they made many mistakes.
G 55A flew for the first time in 1947, hence is a post war airplane. Look carefully WHAT are the visible differences with G 55 Sottoserie 1, perhaps kit will do.
Wait, watch, listen, then pounce!

I am building the 1/48 Special Hobby kit (the box for Sottoserie 0), but the box includes the parts for both versions.
There are 2 pairs of fuselages for the different styles of the rudder and 2 engine undercowlings (with or without fairings for the 12,7 mgs).
For the decals accuracy, i agree with Lazycat: check what sample you want to build.
