Hi all,
I am thinking about starting my Merlin Models CR 40 kit and I can find literally nothing about this one of a kind fighter prototype online. It seems that it was a derivitive of the CR 32 with a radial engine ( Bristol Mercury ?) and the upper wing lowered to the top of the fuselage- but I'd love to have a bit more information in hand before beginning the usual fight one has with a Merlin kit....
Thanks in advance,
Keith

You should also find some info in the Fiat CR-42 book from Ali d'Italia.

Thanks much for the help- I don't have the book but that pic is a wonderful start. I'm guessing that the fuselage is a combination of silver lacquer and silver dope - does that sound right?

Some additional information from "The FIAT Fighters 1930-1945", P. Vergnano. The CR.40 was basically a CR.32 with a radial engine.

Silver dope (fabric covered aircraft) color scheme, forward fuselage in aluminum.
