junker ju 52 advice for a diorama question

Post by stefanuccio » Thu Nov 11, 2010 2:34 pm

Hallo
I would like to represent a diorama that includes the RA and the Lufwaffe in the period of 1939-40
So i would like to know if at that time the famouse tri-engines Junker ju 52 of the CIVILIAN airlin Lufthansa in theyr silver colour had the nazi-germany red flag with swastika on the tail or if they had the normal Lufthansa livery depicting a bird on theyr tail?
thanks very much for your reply
stefano

Hi Stefano,

In 1939-1940 all German civilian aircraft had the nazi flag painted on their tail surface, including the Lufthansa Ju 52s.

If you want I can scan an image from "Im Zeichen des Kranichs" - The Aircraft of the Lufthansa 1926 - 2006.

The Lufthansa Historic Flight Ju 52 uses the old style tail logo without the nazi flag for the (correct) political reasons.

Kind regards,

Peter
