Re: S.M. 79-II
May I make a suggestion, thin out your paint to that the patchers are not so dense. Also, feather out the edges then proceed to mist over the entire model with a very light coat of the base color. Try this method on a mule first and see how it goes for you. I hope you take this advice in the spirit it has been given, which is to help a fellow modeler.

Thank you for the reply. Believe me, I'm not offended by your recommendation. Just disappointed ; I'd hoped I had this figured out. If I may ask, if you have example, would you be so kind as to post a photo here, so I can study it? I believe it would be very helpful.

BTW, I forgot to mention, re: color matching, I'm using MRP (Mr. Paint) Giallo Mimetico (MRP-325), Verde Mimetico (MRP-327) and Bruno Mimetico (MRP-322). They're airbrush-ready acrylic lacquers. Cross referencing from the CMPR chart, they were the best matches I could find. I'm glad to know they look right.

I hope I'm not becoming a pest with this, but this forum is my best place to get feedback on this project.
Another test focusing on the pattern (size of color patches, spacing, feathered edges). Please let me know if I'm getting close.

Exactly what I was referring to in the use of masks.
Post all you you like and sorry about your last post, I noticed the day after the forum was restored on March 02 that the original forum database was damaged and I had to revert to one stored on Feb 19 - see the Forum announcement:

Wow! Thanks so much. The middle shot seems to show the color. The spacing between patches is really tight! That will require some more work.....

Looks great. As I was tacking down a model with an example of my work you had asked me for I doped it and it shattered. I got so angry at myself that I picked it up and slammed it in the trash. So please do not think I ignored your request. You are getting it right. Keep up the effort an you will be right on t spot. Happy modeling.

I believe this is the final version. It's only one wing and I'll do some weathering/fading, but I think it is a good representation.
