Is that map of Italy supposed to be in the camo patter on the left wing? Was it on the original a/c. Either way it's very interesting.

The camo pattern that appears to be a 'map of Italy' is indeed on the original aircraft. In the link below, scroll down to the black and white orginal photo contained in the article:
