I have the Italeri 1/48 C.200 Serie II kit with the enclosed canopy. The kit provides markings for 385-red 10 in the standard Macchi factory "poached egg" camo pattern. According to my sources, 385Sq received C.200`s on December 9,1940. I assume that 385Sq received new production C.200`s on that date. The only quantity manufacturer of C.200 at the time was Breda. Breda was manufacturing both Serie II and Serie III airframes during November of 1940. The Serie III C.200 is completely different from the Serie II canopy wise. My questions are: Did 385Sq receive serie II or serie III airframes on Dec 9th? Is that marking profile supplied with kit accurate for a serie II( it is possible)?
I already have figured out the Macchi factory "poached egg" kit supplied paint scheme is bogus. I am also leaning more towards a serie III airframe with later model open canopy as the possibility. Doing a Breda serie III airframe is no problem just not with this kit.
Thanks to all

Good luck with your built! There is so much to do on that crappy kit to make a decent reproduction of a "Saetta". best regards.
