C.200 color shot
C.200 color shot
This interesting photo of a Saetta appeared on FB this morning. In spite of the obvious damage, the aircraft looks quite new. The poster described the shot as "colorized and enhanced," so take if for what it's worth! Still, the average "colorizer" wouldn't have known about the "Celeste" blue prop blade color; it seems very well done.
Also of interest (and something I've noticed in other photos) is how subdued the "poached egg" camo pattern looks. Again, total speculation on my part, but I'd be tempted to think the dark green was sprayed over the tan and brown spots, instead of the other way around.

Re: C.200 color shot
An interesting image. Its not clear if the image is a frame of a film or a photo but the colors look pretty good. The propeller is Piaggio made, pale blue front facing, the undersurface color looks right and the main wheel strut is metal. Color of the crankcase cover and prop hub look right too. It would be ice to get a few more frames of this C.200 to get a better idea who built it. A telltale sign of a colorized photo or image is the demarcation or transition between foliage (e.g., grass, ground) and the sky or buildings, aircraft etc, the color routines usually have trouble in these areas and fill it in with a fuzzy/unclear color (best guess), in between. Thanks for posting this Mike.
Re: C.200 color shot
I'm just painting the prop on my C200 the same colour as above, what marking should be on the prop blades, there are several on my decal sheet with no clue as to which shoud be used.

Re: C.200 color shot
C.200 prop blades were manufactured by AerMacchi, Piaggio and Breda. Almost always the prop logos were present on AerMacchi and Piaggio props, also Breda. There is a photo of Breda built C.200s at Bresso inside the factory facility with Breda logos present on the front facing propeller blades and another photo of Breda C.200s outside the factory with Piaggio logos. Aermacchi built planes generally used their own props although there are photos of C.202s with Piaggio built props. Ambrosini built Macchis used Piaggio made props.
Re: C.200 color shot
Thank you for that, so the prop would be Piaggio, unfortunately I do not have a Paiggio logo so they will have to have been missed at the factory.

Re: C.200 color shot
If you go back to your original post for the C.200 you're building there's a photo of an Ambrosini-built C.202 with Piaggio made prop. That Breda and Macchi made occasional use of Piaggio props (more Breda) suggests there wasn't enough supply of their own-made props to supply some to Ambrosini. Check other decal sheets e.g., C.202 and kits you have, the Piaggo logo remained the same. I think you can also leave it off if you can't find the logo.
Re: C.200 color shot
Thanks for that I will have a look through my Italian kits, there may be something there.

Re: C.200 color shot
Just had a good look on Hannants site and I found 2 sheets of Italian prop blade logos in 1/32 scale from Kora, now just have to wait for them to arrive.
