Fiat G.55B

Post by Brendan » Thu Aug 23, 2007 5:14 pm

Hello,

I just picked up the very nice Special Hobby 1:72 Fiat G.55B. The kit comes with two schemes, both overall silver and post-1945. Were there any G.55B in service during the war with either the Co-Belligerent or ANR? Or Luftwaffe, for that matter? Thanks for any help!

Best wishes,
Brendan

I'm not aware of any G.55s in use with the Co-Belligerent airforce. I'm pretty sure a G.55B was used by the ANR, I'll have to check my references when I get back to Calgary.

According to the book " I caccia della serie 5 - Fiat G55" by N. Arena the first Fiat G55B was derived by the Fiat G55 MM91176 and was produced by Fiat for the Aeronautica Militare Italiana (AMI) in 1946

Hi Riccardo and Vince,

Thanks for your replies! The most comprehensive info I could find (in English) was on Wikipedia, which stated the same delivery info as Riccardo. I always like to get other opinions as much as I can. A "what-if" ANR scheme might be kind of fun ...

Best wishes,
Brendan
