aldo buvoli G50 camouflage

Post by pante11 » Sat Dec 27, 2008 10:32 am

Hello everybody..
I'm planning to make a fiat G50 1/48 belonged to maresciallo Aldo Buvoli from 155Th squadron (where I served from 1989 till 97 as Tornado pilot....)
Does anyone know the camoflage of that airplan or a useful link where I can find it? The only view I have is from the decal dedicated to the regia aces...
Thanks to everybody and I wish you all a happy new year
Fredi :D

Hello Fredi,
Its nice to hear from an Italian Air Force Tornado pilot!
Did you serve during the 91 Gulf or 97 Kosovo campaign?
If its not to personal, perhaps you could share some stories and what its like to fly the Tornado.
Happy New Year,
Vincent

memories of a tornado pilot

Post by pante11 » Tue Dec 30, 2008 2:03 pm

Hello Vince!!
I joined the squadron in the summer 1990 just few days before saddam invaded Kuwait..in september the squadron or "il gruppo" moved to Al Dafhra (UAE) taking part of "desert shield" first and " desert storm" after
I did not go because at that stage I wasn't " combat ready"..The Night of january 17 8 italians tornado ( 4 from 155 gruppo and 4 from 154 ) took part of a massive air raid over kuwait ..They were the first Italians aircraft partecipating in a air campain since the end of WW2..
Personally the only Real Operation were I took part was from 93 till the end of 95 were I flew over Bosnia to protect (if attaked) the ONU troops around Sarayevo ..meanwhile we were keeping the adriatic sea embargo against Serbia montenegro...
In 1997 I left the Air force to join Alitalia were I'm now...
In 1999 "il 155 gruppo" was tasked to knock out the Serbian ground to air defence systems. In fact in 1995 we change the role from bombers to SEAD ( suppression of enemy air defence)
The first night of operations against the former republic of Yugoslavia were led by 2 tornadoes of 155 gruppo and the USAF F16 Wild weasel from Spangdalem AFB...
During the Kosovo war. the 155 gruppo fired 115 HARM missiles!!!
Since I'm very proud to served for 155 gruppo for 7 and half years I'm making models of Regia Airplanes that flew in this great squadron... So this is the reason because I'm looking for Buvoli camo...

Ciao Fredi,
A wonderful story, thank you kindly for sharing your experiences! I look forward to seeing some of your work and perhaps we can write a short history of 155° Gruppo and post it on Stormo.

hi Vince!

I'm just finished a Reggiane 2001 1/48 ...and I took some picture of it..Unfortunally I'm not an expert at all in the computer businnes.. so as soon as I'll understand how to post the pictures l'll send to you...
For the story of 155 Gruppo is not a big problem to write a story because every rookie pilot or navigator as to learn it and to tell the all history in front of the whole squadron...
I can also suggest a very good book with a lot of pictures with the entire history of the squadron from the beginning up to 2005...Unfotunally is in italian...
Happy new year to everybody
