Is Italeri really releasing a Re.2002 in 1/48 scale in 2008?

Hello guys, I just read on Cybermodeler that Italeri is planning to release a Re.2002 Ariete in 1/48 scale this year (kit number 2670)??? Does any one have news on this??

I was aware of work on such a kit (it was mentioned in the old forum last year or the year before), however I wasn't aware that Italeri had reached a point of indexing the kit to 2670. I think the most current Italeri index for 1/48 aircraft is ITA2667, so its quite possible that the kit will be released in the not too distant future, that is, if the mold does in fact exist.

Yes! In autumn we´ll can go to our local model-kit dealer and can buy the Re 2002!!!!

I saw the prospect from Italeri with the kit! The kit also contains the nice photo manual!

You´ll find nice pictures of the original Re 2002 which is under restaration at google pics : "Reggiane Re. 2002"

It's December 2008, any one know when this is going to be released? It's been in FSM for a few months but I haven't seen anything else on this release.

According to an email I received from the US distributor, it should be available in the US in February.

...report about a visit to Italeri, Mid November 2008.
The work on RE 2002 and RE 2000 was in progress, with the last at the end...
We will see these kits on the beginning of 2009. May be, from what we read on project, a RE 2000 in 48 and a RE 2002 in 72 are of course possible news for 2009 or 2010, have a look on what is written on the project... text is in italian, anyway the pictures tell all the story !
