I found 3 hours of free time and I made a little progress on my Tarantolas' Macchi.

During the weekend I found some time to continue on my Macchi. Macchi is shortly before application of the first coat of Mr.Srfacer.

On this picture it looks like the camouflage was applied over the exhaust. Do you think it as well?

The PE application is terrific, thank you for sharing these pics - very useful. That's an interesting point you raise regarding the camouglage applied over the exhausts. There's no reason why the paint couldn't be applied over the exhausts. Thank you for pointing this out! What resin parts are you using for the tailplanes?

My resin the tailplanes are copies of Hasegawas early version tailplanes which were in their limited edition of Macchi 202 "Canavalio Ramparte". Mira Riha is owner of this limited edition and we let our friend to make some copies for our maquettes of early versions of MCs.

Another question, what did you use to cast the tailplains, ie. a kit ? The result is very clean and fine.

I can't aswer you to your question. I would like to answer you but I don't know it. As I wrote two posts above the spare tailplains were casted by our friend because. We felt we would need more early tailplanes in the future than only once which were contained in Hasegawa limited edition.

My Tarantola macchi is just before the painting. I sprayed the whole kit with Mr.Surfacer 1000 which detected some defects. After they were corrected I oversprayed those repaired places with Surfacer once more.

I like the way you work, very clean and I also like your approach to painting the inside of the canopy, ie., from the outside. Do you mask the inside of the canopy ?

No I don't.

Maybe next time.

I own FM engine set so when I will do the Luchini sliced up Macchi I try to mask canopy from the inside. This time I masked canopy by Montex masks only from the outside and sprayed it in interior colour. I do it on my every kit with the aim to simulate interior structure of the canopy. I don't like if the camouflage colour is seen inside the cocpit.
I will mask the cockpit canopies inside as well when I will do the Hasegawa Bf 109G-4 in 1/32 or Mc.200 and Mc.202 by PCm in the same scale. All of these big birds will be in RA marking
