So far, my attempt to produce an accurate 1/72 Re 2005…

Post by centauro » Tue Feb 24, 2009 7:34 am

The Pavla kit is actually superb, only a few minor improvements had to be done:

- the fuselage reshaped and re-scribed because of its asymmetry;
- the fairing behind the cockpit is a modified part from the MC 202 by Italeri;
- the nose section replaced with the scratch built one (also due to asymmetry );
- the wings were warped (probably due to the nature of the styrene used being somewhat like feta chees) and had to be given a framework to obtain the correct shape.

As for the fit of the parts, I would rather give no comments about this...
Anyway, it seems, I was still able to use a couple of original resin parts such as cockpit and the tail wheel. All other small parts were after all scratch built ore extensively modified. The pilot’s seat, for instance, was originally rather 1/48 than 1/72!

My only hope, I haven't to commit suicide because of the release of a new one by Italeri or sort of to soon... :wink:
Wink

Centauro,
It's a labor of love anytime one builds a limited run kit.Your progress so far looks excellent.I'm most impressed with your landing gear details.Would it be possible to see a few interior photos of the cockpit area too?At any rate keep up the good work and please keep us posted as to your updates.I look forward to seeing the completed project.

It looks terrific! The kit looks allot like a scaled down version of the 1/48 FM Re.2005. Keep us posted.

Here are some more pictures of the earlier construction stages. The internal wing framework was not only used for the correct representation of the wheel wells, but also to make the warped wing symmetrical.

As for the cockpit area, i didn't photo them while on the unassembled fuselage parts, but I'll probably do the close up photos of the cockpit once the model is finished.

Just for comparison: here is this Pavla "masterpiece" built mostly OOB or at least without major corrections:

Note the asymmetry of the fuselage and the wings.

Centauro,

This has really taken things beyond straightforward modelling and into the realms of fine engineering. Superb!

Aeroal.
