s-79
hello! i have been researching the s-79 in preparation to building a few 1/72 italeri kits. i have seen a few things i can't find clear pictures of. was there a sort of retractable shield over the ventral gondola front window? was there ever a connective brace between the stabilizer struts?(i swear these are visible where the struts contact the stabilizer in some photos) when the sides of the gondola were camouflaged was the rest of the lower fuselage also painted? would appreciate any help here. thanks, james. any references i have will be gladly shared. i have many books on regia aeronautica.

hello! there is a walk around of the museum s-79 at aircraft resource center. google it and see. very good interior and other details not shown in the ali d'italia book. there is a shield on the gondola front window. this must have been a debris guard for take off and landing. the museum example has the connection between the lower stabilizer struts. this does not appear in all photos of s-79. great shot here of the upper cable braces. still wondering if lower fuselage was painted like mc-202 with wrap around color.
